Gotland · Visby is the beat world, BEAT: Visby's ring wall at sunset over the Baltic — and the same wall as an old map whose ink has run dry. The drums of Medieval Week begin and the runner walks the wall top by itself, one stride a beat, to VYKR's Cut the Pulse. TAP as the lantern meets a tower, a gate or a stretch of the wall, on the beat, and it is inked back onto the map; a piece let pass or a tap on nothing is a miss, and three misses in a row fade the ink. At Söderport the towers fall between the beats. From Kruttornet by the harbour past Norderport, Österport and Söderport to the three towers of S:ta Maria. Five seals hang on the off-beats.
