Varberg is the cannons world, CANNONS: Varberg Fortress on the sea, an old photograph of it in a storm — and its cannons are waking. Nobody runs: the runner sits in a cannon whose barrel swings, clicks round or stands still, and a TAP fires it where it points now. Read the swing and the ghost of the arc, fly from the gate tower over the rocks, Christian IV's bastions, the casemates, up the prison tower, through the storm on the hoist and the boats and along the pier to the old cold-water bathhouse. A fuse burns in every barrel; the surf, the walls, the gulls and the breakers end a shot. The photograph comes alive in colour behind you; five Bocksten hoods wait in casemates at the steep end of a swing. Tap the playfield or use the shown controls to play.
